A PCSO may not have the powers that an actual police officer has, but you would still expect them to help out (or at least attend) a crime in process, especially if it was just around the corner.
Sussex Police has launched an investigation after footage of an incident in Lancing, West Sussex, showed a PCSO in a marked police car refusing to attend an assault that had broken out in a nearby Co-op, just a few hundred metres away:

The maddest part is just the total lack of concern or interest from the PSCO. You would think at the very least he would call it in and make sure someone else could deal with it. As the guy filming said, he could have just pulled up at the Co-op to give the impression of police presence, even if the PCSO himself is completely useless. Who even knew that PCSOs were allowed to drive around in marked police cars, anyway?
Former Scotland Yard detective, Mike Neville, told MailOnline he was “appalled” when he saw the video, saying every day the public’s trust in the police “ebbs away” and that the footage shows “police are not on your side”. Stick this one on diverting traffic duties in the p*ssing rain, IMO.
