So this clip is going viral on TikTok and Oprah is being (unfairly?) roasted for it. She seems absolutely stunned that anyone’s budget could be less than $100, although it may be understandable when you remember she’s worth $2.5 BILLION herself. Still, you may as well have told her that the aliens have landed with the way she reacted. Here’s the general sentiment on TikTok:

Seems a bit harsh really? I mean, it took her a second but I think she realised at the end that not everyone has thousands or even hundreds of dollars to throw at gifts for Christmas. Initially suggesting a $100 gift isn’t a bad shout at all, especially for someone’s mum. It’s not like she told the guy to buy his mum a Rolex or a Mercedes or an all-expenses paid trip to Dubai. In the end, she suggested he get his mum a gift that doesn’t cost a penny, which was perfect. But of course the internet is going to interpret it as Oprah poor-shaming the man because that’s what the internet does.

Now what would have been really cool is if Oprah offered to pay for the gift herself, but then I guess she already does a shxtload for charity and can’t be setting precedents where she sorts out Christmas for every person who comes up to her on the street. Don’t get me wrong, she’s probably a rich psycho like all the other billionaires out there but I think she handled this situation quite well, all things considered. Merry Christmas, everyone!
