The soprano has been left with a “complete breakdown of the episiotomy and perineum and the external sphincter is disrupted and the vagina and rectum are basically connected without any perineal body”. The lawyer says “as a result of her incontinence and excessive flatulence, Herbst has been unable to work as a professional opera singer… She is suffering through a very embarrassing and very significant injury, and frankly, the prognosis of a fully successful repair is pretty low”.
She’s looking for a cool $2.5 million smackeroos. Although episiotomies are pretty standard, Herbst is saying she wasn’t informed by the nurse that she was getting the snip and that other options should have been tried first. Here’s where the alleged massacre occured:
After Herbst was released from the hospital, she “began to experience fecal urgency and incontinence, including periodic leaking of stool and excessive flatulence” the suit states. Medical cases tend to run and run and the fact that it’s a military hospital only lengthens the red tape. So I predict we’ll not see the end of this for some time.
I suppose I’m making light of a pretty horrible situation for poor Herbst here, I just got a pang of guilt… oh no, I think that was wind.
