Kind of creepy and kind of cool, that’s how I’d describe that image. This Egyptian false toe was found on a female mummy and is around 3000 years old. It was probably constructed to help her walk again following an accident. Bear in mind this was before “no win, no fee” lawyers were invented.
Recently a team of scientists in Manchester made exact copies of the wooden toe and tried it out on modern folks with missing toes. They got them to walk whilst wearing sandals and you know what? It worked quite well thank you very much indeed.
