Australian Commercial For Nintendo Entertainment System, 1980s

Now this is just plain unsettling. You’d think that an Australian commercial would feature cheerful types with good hair and teeth and a prodigious drinking ability, but instead we have something that’s a cross between George Orwell’s 1984 and the video for Money For Nothing by Dire Straits.
Nintendo’s upbeat joie-de-vivre has been replaced by chilling animated automatons reminding the player, time and time again that “YOU CANNOT BEAT US” in horrible Dalek voices. If I was a small child growing up in Australia and this came on the TV I would give my parents specific instructions NOT to buy me one of these for Christmas/my birthday and get me a Sega Master System instead.
