Ice hockey was a fairly run-of-the-mill sports title for the Atari 2600 whose only notable feature was a 2-player setting that enabled you to compete with (and presumably swear at) your friends. It is the spirit of competitive aggression that informs this ad.
Late Canadian funnyman Phil Hartman (you may remember him as the voice of Troy McClure in The Simpsons) goes into a shop asking for the game and then gets really aggro as he is tormented by the shopkeeper and gets so FIRED UP to be playing it that by the end of the ad he looks about ready to have an aneurysm. He also screams the title out at the end so as to terrify any small children who may have been watching.
