Tsaatan, Mongolia
The Tsaatan or Dhuka people are a tiny group of reindeer herders that live in northern Khövsgöl Aimag of Mongolia. Only 44 Dukha families remain, totaling somewhere between 200 and 400 people. They have lived entirely from reindeer for hundreds of years, but since the democratization of Mongolia there are no government programs to replenish reindeer herds from Siberia. This is making it harder to survive. Nowadays a lot of their income comes from tourist dollars.
