We get our fair share of weirdos on the London underground and public transport in general, but the NYC subway is on another level when it comes to passengers verbally and physically abusing each other, with altercations that all too often end up in people being shot and stabbed in front of fellow commuters.
Here’s what went down on the NYC subway G train heading to Brooklyn the other night:

Terrifying. Imagine being stuck in a metal container with these savages while the rest of the country tells you that America doesn’t have a gun problem. According to this article, the main aggressor/man who instigated the fight was the one shot in the end, so I guess that’s a decent outcome, all things considered. Apparently the other guy’s girlfriend pulled out a knife or stiletto and stabbed him as he was attacking her boyfriend, who then managed to wrestle the gun away from the aggressor and shoot him with it. Which seems like a fairly clear cut case of self-defence if that’s actually how it went down. The person filming was (understandably) legging it as far as away from the situation as possible by the time it reached its conclusion.
Well anyways, gun laws are what they are in America and so I doubt anything will be done about it, even when altercations like this put innocent members of the public in danger. Maybe they could start sticking armed guards on train carriages? Knowing them, it will probably somehow make things worse.
