York ended up moving to Georgia to avoid the police attention he was getting in New York and some bad blood between himself and the Muslim community who saw him as a threat and a blaggard.
When the Nuwaubians first arrived in Georgia they dressed as cowboys and were accepted in the community, but when they started dressing as Egyptians and building pyramids heads started to turn. The locals were pretty confused as to why they had chosen their remote, almost exclusively white town as their hub of weird. Here’s their huge compound from the air:
York babbled something about an ancient site in the area but it seems more likely that some of the group had family, friends or supporters in the region. Thanks to these connections many of the Nuwaubians started assuming positions of local power.
