A National Geographic expedition in 1975 went to North Sentinel Island and dropped off some more gifts for the locals in another vain attempt to make friends. They lingered a little too long on the beach and one of the tribesmen managed to shoot an arrow into the thigh of a crew members. The Sentinelese gent apparently found this highly amusing.

Throughout the 1990’s the islanders allowed people a little closer and would sometimes wade into the waters to collect the gifted coconuts. But they would still only tolerate the boats for a few minutes before things started getting gnarly and warning arrows were launched.
