We’ve heard the debates over whether the next 007 should be a woman, or black. But how about a non-binary James Bond that uses they/them pronouns? Think about it. Instead of Q, Bond could report to L, G, B and T. He could start a war with a Russian supervillain who refuses to use his correct pronouns.
Well, here’s what 007 producer Barbara Broccoli actually said about it on the ‘Girls on Film‘ podcast:
Sounds like she was just being polite? Basically responded “who knows?” at a question she wasn’t expecting. I wonder if Piers Morgan even read the quote before going into meltdown on Twitter?
For the love of God, just leave the poor man alone to be a proper man; a steely-eyed, hard-drinking, womanising, smoking, charming, politically incorrect, freedom-defending bastion of old-fashioned gloriously woke-allergic manhood. https://t.co/FmJvOF6qVk

Well anyway, I don’t think a non-binary Bond is something we’ll be seeing anytime soon, which probably makes sense for the reasons Barbara Broccoli said re Bond being a woman. Why not create new characters instead? As for a black James Bond, Idris Elba is a good shout IMO. He’s one of the baddest (and best-dressed) Brits in Hollywood. Make it happen, Barbara Broccoli!
