It’s tough to know who to blame for knife crime in London. Some say the problem lies with Tory cuts to police funding, others say it’s the responsibility of mayor Sadiq Khan, and others reckon getting stabby is just part and parcel of living in bustling city like London these days.
Oasis legend Noel Gallagher, who recently bought a house in west London after splitting from his wife last year, lay the blame solely on mayor Khan while on Matt Morgan’s Patreon podcast:
“That little weasel-faced c*** of a Mayor who runs this town — I f***ing hate him. You know that kid who got stabbed on Primrose Hill on New Year’s Eve? I heard that on the radio and one of the reporters was saying knife crime has gone down all over the country except London. So what do you have to say about that, you little weasel-faced c***? How does he keep getting voted in? God, I f**king hate him. You know he asked me for a picture once, the little c***? I told him to go f**k himself.”
Jeez Noel, tell us how you really feel! Gallagher also had this to say about the constant rail strikes in London:
“Travelling up and down to Manchester on the train is a f**king nightmare. They just cancel it, on a f***ing whim. And they’re always on strike because they’re not f**king getting paid enough. How are they not being run by the f***ing government?”
Sounding like a true Londoner already. Here’s what a spokesperson for Sadiq Khan had to say about violent crime in London in general:
“It’s clear that violent crime remains far too high and there’s much more to do. he Mayor is determined to continue making progress by supporting the police to bear down on crime at the same time as being tough on the complex causes of crime – poverty, inequality and a lack of opportunities for young Londoners – which have all been made much worse by years of government cuts.”
Yet it comes as Sadiq Khan is refusing to supply the Met Police with £70million in funds for its ‘New Met For London’ reforms, despite offering a bumper £30million pay deal to unions to avert crippling Tube strikes. Does it have to be one or the other?
The next Mayoral election in London is on May 2, 2024, so no guesses who Noel Gallagher won’t be voting for. We already know that no one holds a grudge like Noel Gallagher, so it’s got to be pretty brutal for Sadiq Khan to learn that Gallagher’s called him a weasel-faced c*** (twice!) on a podcast, especially after he brutally rejected a photo with him. No one said being Mayor was easy…
