It’s been about ten years since The Walking Dead first exploded onto our screens and whilst there’s no doubt that that show has had its moments over the years, it feels like a lot of them have been and gone and there aren’t that many of them left – it’s time for a new killer zombie show.

Netflix may have just found it with its newest property, the prequel to ‘Z Nation’ known as ‘Black Summer’. Whilst ‘Z Nation’ was more of a comedy show, ‘Black Summer’ is going to be more of your traditional zombie story as Rose (Jamie King) searches for her daughter in a post apocalyptic wasteland after the initial zombie outbreak.
The trailer seriously makes it look like it’s going to be super scary and awesome – take a look at it below:
See what I mean? You’re definitely gonna be crapping yourself watching that when it drops on April 10th.
Here’s what producer Jodi Binstock had to say about the series as well:
Black Summer is referred to in Z Nation as the summer where everything went to hell, so that is where Black Summer picks up.
This show is not tongue-in-cheek, it’s very, very serious: it’s as if the zombie apocalypse really happened in 2018 and explores what that would be for all of us. It’s a very unique style that I think people will really respond to.
It’s only told from the point of view of the characters – we don’t learn anything that the characters don’t and it’s fantastically shot. The dynamics of the way that they have crafted the storytelling is very cinematic and I think people will really respond to it.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure they will to be honest – looks like it’s probably going to be another instant classic from Netflix. For more of the same, check out the major outbreak of zombie deer that’s actually happening in the USA right now. Seriously.
