In a study that may or may not have been funded by Coca Cola and Pepsi, the Northwest Minzu University in China has found that drinking the two popular soft drinks can lead to larger testicles and higher testosterone levels.
The study looked at three groups of mice – one that only drank water, another that drank different levels of Coca Cola with another doing the same with Pepsi – over 15 days.
The mice were tested on day one, day five, seven, 10 and 15. It turns out that the mice drinking Coke and 100 percent Pepsi, compared to a mixture of Pepsi and water, had a significantly larger balls and testosterone levels than the other nice.
The study concluded:
“Drinking Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola could promote testis development and enhance testosterone secretion [ …] our findings provide the scientific basis for fully understanding carbonated beverages effects and their mechanism on development and reproduction functions of humans, and how they benefit the prevention of prostate dysfunction and cancer.”
So you’re telling me that drinking copious amounts of Coke and Pepsi could ‘benefit the prevention of prostate dysfunction and cancer’? Well, I suppose if you ignore the fact there’s enough sugar in a can of Coke to give an elephant type 2 diabetes, not to mention the eroding teeth, obesity, and other cancers it could cause. There’s also the numerous studies out there already that show how carbonated soft drinks are associated with lower fertility in both men and women.
So yeah, not sure I’m ready to trust any study coming out of Northwest Minzu University in China, and especially one that tries to get me to drink more Coke and Pepsi. Maybe if it had told me that Coke/Pepsi also make your willy bigger, but as it’s just the balls I don’t think it’s worth chancing. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what 7-Up has to report…
