I don’t have a whole lot to say here, and I needn’t really — in spite of this being an article/post and thus requires the written word. I’ve good reason though. On Monday night’s show, hyperactive and overenthusiastic mouthpiece Zane Lowe got to premiere the first properly new material from Queens of the Stone Age since their last album, Era Vulgaris, in 2007. It comes ahead of their now title-confirmed new album ”…Like Clockwork’ which is set to be released in June.
The track is called ‘My God Is The Sun’ and it struts its sexy swagger right up to your face and then thrusts, and thrusts, and thrusts. You take it because it sounds so good. Oral sex analogy aside, it is a definite return to form after the not so popular, but still great in places, Era Vulgaris and sounds somewhere between the style sported on Songs For The Deaf and Lullabies To Paralyze respectively.

Add to that the fact that Dave Grohl is behind the kit after his stunningly successful stint with them for Songs For The Deaf and you’ve got a promising release ahead of you. However, the guests don’t stop with Dave though as the album will also boast spots from Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Elton John and Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters). The band, with former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore on drum duties, will be hitting some festivals this summer and doing a tour in promotion of the album soon after. Get on it.
