I know that pretty much every week we get a story about a new Netflix true crime documentary being the best of the year, but this one really does sound like something special.

‘Into the Deep: The Submarine Murder Case’ details what happened when journalist Kim Wall boarded the submarine of inventor Peter Madsen and looks like it’s going to be an absolutely wild ride as it films Madsen’s descent into madness and murder in real time. Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think:
Filmmaker Emma Sullivan was looking to profile eccentric inventor Peter Madsen and his homemade rocket for a documentary.
Instead, she captures incriminating footage that helped convict him of the murder of journalist Kim Wall.
Wow. That really does look like something a bit different doesn’t it, when the documentary that you’re filming turns into something that’s way crazier than you could have ever imagined. Sort of like ‘Tiger King’ in that respect I suppose, but probably not quite as wacky and more psychological/terrifying.
Anyway, the documentary has been out for a few days now and the reaction has been pretty superlative so far:
Into The Deep on Netflix is extraordinary. A documentary that started filming 11 months before its subject committed murder. Sensitively handled and not leering over the facts of the crime, this is as much about a group discovering a friend and leader is a psychopath. Watch now. pic.twitter.com/fo1Vc5sBrw

Into The Deep on @netflix is maybe the best true crime doc of the year. The documentary captures the downward spiral of a murderous psychopath in real time. No dramatized footage needed. Absolutely shocking.
