Netflix already has a great reputation as the purveyor of excellent original television shows – with the likes of ‘House Of Cards’, ‘Orange Is The New Black’ and ‘Daredevil’ all exclusively broadcast on the streaming service – and it looks like they’re going to add to it with their creepy new show ‘Stranger Things’.

The show stars Winona Ryder (remember her? Probably about time she fronted a TV show like so many of her contemporaries) in a story about a missing boy in a small town against the backdrop of what looks like some kind of government conspiracy. It’s got a distinctly 80s vibe in the trailer – there are a lot of little kids biking around the town and some guys in hazmat suits – but it still manages to put a modern twist on it with the tension and dread palpably rising as the trailer reaches its climax:

Yeah, by the end of that I was getting seriously boxed in, there was just such a feeling of unease and underlying terror throughout the whole trailer. Excited for this one – hopefully it can fill the void left by shows like ‘The X-Files’ and ‘Twin Peaks’.
To be fair, that could also have been filled by Aaron Paul’s new show. I just haven’t got round to watching it yet.
