I think everyone in the country got a little bit upset earlier this year when the final episode of ‘Neighbours’ aired – even though most of us probably hadn’t watched it in about twenty years – because it was such a long standing and iconic staple of the television landscape over here. You kinda just thought it would always be around.

And it turns out that it actually will. Unlike the decision makes at Channel Five, Jeff Bezos and the boys at Amazon have decided that ‘Neighbours’ is a TV show worth investing in and purchased all the rights associated with it, meaning that thousands of old episodes will be show on Amazon FreeVee and a new series will begin in the second half of next year.
Dr Karl Kennedy, Toadie, Susan and Paul Robinson are so far confirmed to return but you can bet that loads your other favourite characters will probably be back as well. Those four made an appearance in the official video announcing the return:

Well I suppose that’s good news? I like the idea that ‘Neighbours’ will still be continuing, but I don’t think this news is enough to make me tune into the new series.
There are presumably people out there that still watched it every day though so I’m happy for them that it’s only going to be gone from their screens for a year. Hopefully they haven’t found something else to replace it in the meantime.
For more of the same, check out this guy’s neighbours who are threatening to kill themselves because he painted his house in the rainbow flag colours. Maybe that could be a plotline in the new series?
