The Naked Gun is one of the greatest comedy franchises ever and definitely not in need of a reboot, especially because the incredible star of these movies, Leslie Nielsen, is no longer with us. But if it HAS to be remade, then I can’t really think of anyone better than Liam Neeson to take on the role of Lieutenant Frank Debin in place of him.
‘THE NAKED GUN’ reboot, starring Liam Neeson, will release on July 15, 2025 in theaters.

Casting Liam Neeson as the lead in a legendary comedy reboot like Naked Gun might sound odd at first, until you remember that Neeson has some serious comedy chops:

With Seth MacFarlane and Akiva Schaffer involved on the producer/director side of things, the Naked Gun reboot might actually be the rare example of a reboot not being terrible?
I would think it’s going to be a relatively self-aware movie given the crew that’s involved, so that should make it even funnier. There’ll probably be a joke in there about how Liam Neeson is such a similar-sounding name to Leslie Nielsen. Plus plenty of the callbacks to the original, I’m sure.
Maybe I’m just being hyper optimistic, but I have decent hopes for the Naked Gun reboot. Which is more than can be said for The Crow remake that he took a lot at earlier. Yikes.
