Let’s be honest, it’s fucking weird how new mums have so many childbirth trends to follow. Like, isn’t having the baby enough? But one particularly gross trend is becoming popular that sees new mothers use their baby’s umbilical cords as jewellery and decoration.

It’s even more sickening how the things are actually turned into jewellery. They’re made into decorations while they’re still fresh and then baked so that they dry out. Puke. Most of them are made into hearts or random swirly shapes that say word love (which is completely cringy) but some mums lose their shit entirely and make them into dreamcatchers.

Do they want their kids to grow up and wear their umbilical cords as earrings or necklaces? Do they want their kids to grow up and know that their mum was a freak?

And of course, like all trends, the evidence of this vomit producing act can be seen on Instagram where new mums feel that it’s appropriate to showcase their creations. Eww. You might as well make patterns with your own vomit and stick it in a photo frame. What would this Croydon midwife who said real offensive things during women giving birth say if she saw this?
