Arguably the most disturbing video circulating from the Israel/Palestine conflict these last few days is the one of the woman whose naked body is being paraded in the streets by Hamas terrorists, her limbs broken as she lays bloodied and lifeless in the back of a truck.
The video of Shani Louk is so graphic that there’s no way we share it here, so imagine how her mum must have felt seeing it on social media and recognising her daughter by her tattoos and long dreadlocks. Ricarda Louk shared this video begging for help to find out what happened to her daughter:

‘My daughter, Shani Nicole Louk, a German citizen, was kidnapped with a group of tourists in southern Israel by Palestinian Hamas. We were sent a video in which I could clearly see our daughter unconscious in the car with the Palestinians and them driving around the Gaza Strip. I ask you to send us any help or any news.’
Shani Louk was among hundreds of victims in Israel when Palestinian fighters targeted a rave near in the Negev desert. It sounds like her mum has hope that Shani is alive and being kept hostage somewhere, but I’m not so sure. Watching that awful video, her legs are folded like origami and she has what appears to be a gunshot wound in the back of her head, so it would be nothing short of a miracle if she turned up alive. Obviously we hope that’s the case, as Hamas will be holding several hostages as potential bargaining chips for whatever might transpire in the coming days and weeks.
Tom Weintraub Louk, Shani’s cousin, is also holding out hope. He told the Washington Post:
‘We knew she was in the party. She didn’t answer. We have some kind of hope.’
Thoughts with the families and friends of the victims, and those who, like Shani’s parents, are learning the fates of their loved ones by watching videos of the conflict play out on social media. What an unbelievably crazy time to be alive.
