Sports Direct has set a new record after releasing the most expensive Christmas advert of all time, featuring an impressive cast of elite British athletes… and Big Narstie.
Emma Raducanu and Jack Grealish are two of the names featured in the new Go All Out campaign which was put together for £6million. Jordan Pickford, Mason Mount, Declan Rice and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also make an appearance, alongside England Women’s Fran Kirby.
You’ve also got gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, England rugby players Maro Itoje and Anthony Watson, and England Women’s Harriet Millar-Mills also starring. There’s also a cameo for Big Narstie and golfer Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston. Everyone and their mothers, basically.
Beckie Stanion of Sports Direct said:
“After the challenges the nation has faced over the past year we’re excited to encourage everyone to Go All Out this Christmas with the help of some of the country’s biggest sporting legends.”
Worth the £6m spent to make it happen? Probably. Not only is this advert going to be everywhere during the lucrative festive season but the fact it holds the title for most expensive Christmas commercial ever is an extra big chunk of publicity in itself. Securing appearances by high-level athletes of various sports and clubs around the UK? Priceless promotion right there.
Now all Sports Direct have to do is make sure no one finds another giant snake in one of their stores. Then again, you could just order online.
