Ideally, mosquitos would explode as soon as they make contact with your skin. Still, it’s quite satisfying to watch this clip of a mosquito getting a little too greedy for its own good. Maybe it was its birthday or something?
Apparently you can also force this on a mosquito by tensing your muscles as it bites you, but then you barely notice the f**kers before it’s too late.
It turns out the mosquito isn’t entirely to blame for its fate in this video, though. In fact it’s not the mosquito’s fault at all. It was part of an experiment in which scientists severed the mosquito’s ventral nerve which prevents the mosquito from feeling full, so that it keeps drinking until it bursts.
Obviously this is deadly for the mosquito, but as one of the most unpopular insects on the planet, I don’t think anyone’s complaining. Besides, it’s science! How else would we have known about the function of a mosquito’s ventral nerve without sacrificing a few of them in this ruthless experiment? All that’s left now is to conduct the same experiment on humans so we can stop sucking so much too.
