Strong rumour going viral on social media over the weekend claimed that Southport child killer Axel Rudakubana had been ‘served prison justice’ by two brothers serving life sentences at HMP Manchester AKA Strangeways, and had left the 18-year-old absolutely battered on his cell floor as prison guards turned a blind eye.

The audio was shared on X featuring a man who is heard saying: “Two lads here in for murder doing a 35 [year sentence]. They just got let into that little b*****d’s […]. The child killer’s cell. […] And absolutely smashed him to pieces.”

Well, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice has seen fit to put out a statement shutting down these rumours, saying the following: “I can confirm that reports of Axel Rudakubana being attacked in prison are inaccurate. He has not been attacked.”

In fact, word is that Axel Rudakubana is currently being held in a segregation unit at HMP Belmarsh due to fears for his safety among general prison population. It’s unclear whether he’ll remain in HMP Belmarsh – a high-security prison in southeast London designed to house the most dangerous offenders.

The general sentiment at the Ministry of Justice’s statement seems to be one of disappointment, which is understandable. This is a guy who brutally slaughtered three young girls, attempted to kill 10 others, produced ricin in his bedroom, and has shown zero remorse for the atrocities he committed. In fact, Rudakubana has always maintained that he’s “happy” his victims died.

Still, with a 52-year sentence, there’s plenty of time yet for Rudakubana to meet his fellow inmates, many of whom will have an axe to grind with the killer. It might take some time, but at some point, someone will get to him. I don’t know how much of an attempt will be made by prison staff to guard and protect Rudabukaka, but you have to think an opportunity will come along eventually.

I mean, what are they going to do, keep him in solitary confinement for 52 years? That might actually be more torturous than getting beaten up all the time. We all know how convicts treat people who bring harm to innocent children.
