3) It Will Make You Less Jealous
If you say you’re not a jealous person, you’re a liar. We are a generation of “the grass is always greener” syndrome thanks to a constant stream of life bragging presented to us on social media. Oh you just bought a new French bulldog, to go with your new French girlfriend in your new massive French flat and the pictures are all up on Instagram? Oh fuck off.
All in all jealousy is a really shitty emotion and makes people do mental things like dissecting the corpse of your boyfriend’s ex. OK, maybe not that mental, but you know what I mean.
There’s no avoiding people who are better off than you, but there is a way to stop giving a shit. The theory goes that if we rejoice in other people’s happiness then we start to feel it ourselves. This can be a bit of a tough concept to grasp, but to practice it, next time you feel jealous, focus all of your attention of how it makes you feel. Think about your physical sensations and the thoughts that come into your head, but don’t judge it. Just let it be. Like point 1, you become the watcher of the jealousy and you begin to take it less seriously. Like laughing at a stupid kid who’s having a tantrum.
