McDonald’s may once have been the laughing stock of the fast food world as public opinion turned against them, but in recent times the golden arches are really trying to turn it around by bringing out some absolutely excellent menu items.

And they’ve done it again with Gilroy Garlic Fries, which pretty much look like garlic bread crossed with their signature fries. More specifically, they’re McDonald’s fries with some seasoning thrown in made up of Gilroy garlic and olive oil, Parmesan cheese, parsley and a pinch of salt. Basically they sound like cheesy chips with a bit of garlic thrown in as well. They sound (and look) delicious.

Unfortunately as is so often the case with these new menu items, they’re only available in four restaurants in San Francisco at the moment (that’s the home of Gilroy garlic – the garlic capital of the world apparently) but if these trials go down well then they’re going to roll them out to 250 outlets in the Bay Area in August. Given how everyone on the internet seems to be losing their shit over them, this seems to be an inevitability.

This view was echoed by Nick Vergis, co-op president in the San Francisco Bay Area:

We enjoy giving our customers options and bringing this local flavor to our world famous French fries.

The response from customers has been very positive.

I imagine the response would be like that worldwide buddy. Sort it out. For more excellent new McDonald’s menu items, click here.
