Matthew Perry has recently released a tell all autobiography that has been getting a lot of press in the past week because of the dumb ‘revelations’ contained within it and the latest anecdote concerns a strange encounter with none other than Cameron Diaz.

The pair were apparently set up on a group date back in 2009, shortly after Diaz had broken up with Justin Timberlake. Here’s what went down (courtesy of The Independent):

Diaz got ‘immediately stoned’ during the party but ‘wasn’t interested in [him] at all’.

They all settled in for a game of Pictionary – which must have been quite a sight – when Perry managed to come out with ‘something witty’ that clearly amused Diaz.

And in her attempts to punch him on the shoulder in a jocular fashion, she accidentally punched him in the face.

“Are you f***ing kidding me?” Perry recalled saying.

Wow. What a banal interaction. It literally sounds like something that could have happened in an episode of ‘Friends’ but the writers decided to go in another direction because it was nowhere near funny enough. You would have thought that the guy who played Chandler Bing would have been able to come up with a better punchline than ‘Are you f***ing kidding me?’ Don’t think I’ll be buying his book if that’s an example of the ‘funny stories’ contained within it.

Props to Cameron Diaz though. Just immediately gets stoned when she’s on a Pictionary date. Have to respect that.
