‘Stranger Things’ actress Millie Bobby Brown recently married Jon Bon Jovi’s son and gave herself a Carmella Soprano-style makeover, and because it’s 2025 and people can’t help themselves, the haters on X immediately piled on with comments like, “She looks 40!” and “Did she get Botox in a back alley?” and “Soccer mum energy, RIP Eleven”.
Even ‘Little Britain’ legend Matt Lucas chimed in with the following Tweet:
Earlier this week, Millie Bobby Brown hit back at the online reaction to her new look, basically saying that the haters and losers can’t handle the fact she isn’t 12 anymore and need to stop bullying her because she’s a 21-year-old woman who can do as she pleases. In the post shared to IG, she also referenced the Matt Lucas Tweet:
This prompted Matt Lucas to immediately delete his Tweet and issue a public apology to Millie Bobby Brown apologising and explaining himself:
In fairness to the guy, he wasn’t criticising her appearance, but I guess she still didn’t appreciate being compared to Vicky Pollard at the same time as all the other comments that were flying around. It was clearly a harmless joke, but it allowed the media to take it out of context and ridicule Millie Bobby Brown even further. So what else is new?
As for having her appearance/fashion choices dissected by social media and the tabloids, I guess that’s part of the deal when you become an internationally famous celebrity. Your style and aesthetics are going to be talked about no matter what! That doesn’t make it right, of course, but it’s just the way things go.
