Marco Gusmini from Italy was posing for a photo with friends under a massive 100 foot crucifix of Jesus, which was dedicated to Pope John Paul II when it collapsed, utterly obliterating him.
The cross was held up by steel cables but as you can see in the image, it was oddly bent up and appears to be held down in place. Makes you question if this was just a random fluke or if there was some divine hand at play carefully ruining this guy’s day, well life really.
What’s even stranger was that the man was from a town called Lovere in Via Papa Giovanni XXIII – Pope John XXIII street. Pope John Paul II is scheduled to be canonised in a few days so this may not be the best of omens.
Maybe this guy had been blasphemous and got punished? Maybe the cross had been engineered sloppily? Maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time? All I know is that Marco’s friends must really be questioning what the hell just happened.
