After over a year of investigation, the rape charges against footballer Mason Greenwood were dropped a few weeks ago, but it still remains unclear as to whether he’ll ever set foot on a football pitch for Manchester United again or even play the game professionally in the future.

To complicate matters even further, a video has been doing the rounds on Twitter today and has been shared by multiple accounts which claims to show Greenwood hanging out with Harriet Robson – the woman who accused him of rape – outside a shopping mall in Manchester. I’m not 100% sure if it’s either of them to be honest, but it seems to be getting shared by enough Manchester United affiliated accounts to imply that it definitely is the two of them.

Take a look below and see what you think:

So what the hell does that mean if it is the two of them hanging out again? Obviously there’s about a million different scenarios that could be applicable here but I’m sure most people will jump on the idea that Mason Greenwood is a master manipulator/abuser and has somehow managed to coerce Harriet from testifying against him and back into his life as his girlfriend. And to be honest given the nature of the video recording that was released, most of us would probably agree with that narrative.

But there is also the possibility which is being discussed on some corners of the internet that her phone was hacked and that she never wanted this all out in the open and to press charges in the first place. There’s apparently some evidence for that theory out there – like an interview her dad did at the time it originally came out and a record of her using Greenwood’s credit card whilst the case was ongoing – but I think most people are going to look at that voicenote and decide that Mason Greenwood is definitely a bad dude who probably shouldn’t be allowed to play football at a high level again. And more likely should be in jail.

Anyway, don’t really want to speculate any further about what’s going on so I’ll just stop there. Make your own mind up.

For more of the same, check out when Gary Neville liked a tweet saying that Mason Greenwood was innocent. Bit of a faux pas that Gary.
