Mark Zuckerberg has been making some big changes to Meta ever since Donald Trump took office, but I don’t think any of them have been more symbolic than this latest change: removing tampons from the men’s bathrooms at Meta HQ. What, do they have to bring their own now?!

Last week, Zuckerberg announced that the company would be eliminating fact checkers, which he said had been “too politically biased.” Instead, Meta will implement a “community note” system similar to that of Elon Musk’s X.

Furthermore, the Facebook founder revealed that he is eliminating restrictions on speech on politically-charged topics like immigration and gender. He also announced that Meta will change the way AI filters scan for violations, instead using those filters to focus on illegal content only.

Furthermore, Meta will be discontinuing its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and removing transgender and non-binary themes from its Messenger app.

Zuckerberg says the changes come as a result of social media platforms going too far in their efforts to be more inclusive:

“What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas, and it’s gone too far. So I want to make sure that people can share their beliefs and experiences on our platforms.”

Well, well, well. Funny what a change of President can achieve in such little time. If the Democrats had won the election and stayed in power, you can bet the tampons would be staying in the men’s bathrooms over at Meta (along with every other aforementioned policy).

Zuckerberg went on Joe Rogan’s podcast last week and spilled the beans on what it was like running Facebook and Instagram with the Democrats in power, confirming that they were constantly demanding that he remove offensive content, politically-charged memes and vaccine conspiracy theories:

No prizes for guessing who Zuckerberg voted for, then. Although it’s hard to categorically say whether he cares one way or another, or whether he’s just going along with whatever the current social trend is.

I mean, let’s be real, if society and social media suddenly became ultra religious, Meta would be the first corporation to immediately install chapel rooms in its offices and insist everyone puts “God bless” at the end of their e-mails. These big boy CEOs always give in to whatever seems politically popular at the time, but as soon as things aren’t in their favour anymore, they’re happy to switch it up.

In the case of tampons in the men’s bathroom though, I’m glad they’ve finally seen sense. I mean, Jesus, how stupid does that all seem right now? Just such a pointless political statement that anyone with a brain knew would fall flat on its face eventually. I guess they’ll now need to seal off the gender-neutral bathrooms to start renovations there too. Onwards and upwards!

Who knows, maybe we’ll now get that ‘literal d1ck-measuring contest’ between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg going. Dual livestream on X and Facebook?
