Marcello Matrone is a Brazilian centre forward who for some reasons chooses to play his football in the third division of Finnish football. I’m not really sure what the story is there, surely it’s probably nicer to live in Brazil and play for a crappy team rather than to live in Finland and play for a crappy team? Or anywhere in Europe? I guess maybe Marcello Matrone isn’t good enough to play anywhere else but it makes you wonder how he ended up in Finland, right?
Anyway, this isn’t a blog post about Marcello Matrone’s career choices, it’s about his goal celebrations which are fast becoming the stuff of legend. Ridiculously, after every goal he scores Marecello Matrone runs to the center of the pitch and busts out a different dance to routine to various different pop/rock songs which are blazed over the stadium’s (not sure if it really counts as a stadium) PA system.
So far Marcello Matrone has celebrated to Shakira, Amy Winehouse (fitting), Lady Gaga and Guns N Roses. He is generally flanked by his two dancers/partners in crime in most of the celebrations (other players on the team) who just stand behind him and dance. This probably works best in the Lady Gaga one where they put on shades and pick him up at the end. Pretty jokes. Marcello Matrone’s goal in the Amy Winehouse one is pretty sweet too, so maybe he isn’t that bad a player after all?

It seems as though even before he thought of the crazy idea of dressing up as pop stars and dancing to their songs to celebrate his goals, Marcello Matrone was coming up with some crazy goal celebrations. Here are a couple of his previous ones, the Ayrton Senna goal celebration – where Marcello Matrone and his two buddies drive around like cars then sit in a row behind a billboard pretending to drive it – and the Arabian Nights celebration in which Marcello Matrone charms a snake out of basket and makes it dance while his two buddies dance behind him:

There are probably a bunch more of Marcello Matrone’s celebrations out there but to be honest I got kind of bored of looking for them. Imagine being on the same team as him, or even worse being on the team that’s playing against him when he scores. Must be pretty annoying. Having said that, the fact that he has so many celebrations implies that he’s scoring a lot of goals, why hasn’t anyone snapped him up yet? I’m looking at you Birmingham City – Marcello Matrone, check it out.
