I was unaware of Panini Cheapskates – which is pretty funny as I’m really into football and the like – but apparently they’re a company that emulate the style of Chris (Simpsons Artists) to sell badly doodled stickers of players and clubs to people for a small profit.

Most people would agree that this is a good laugh and pretty funny and probably let them be on their way with it as they’re hardly ripping anyone off or making mega bucks off it, but unfortunately those classic dickheads Manchester United had to wade in and spoil everyone’s fun. The Premier League behemoths are annoyed about copyright infringement of their logo and former players and have ordered the husband and wife duo to stop producing their stickers.
The company announced it in the below tweet:
Sad times. Man Utd got in touch and made us stop selling our wonky drawings of their ex-players.
If you've ordered one, we'll be in touch. x pic.twitter.com/aGmqtEcwNR

They sent us a bunch of trademark numbers, including some that relate the their badge. So they're saying that this is intellectual property theft… pic.twitter.com/GBSEtRPzYo

Geez that’s a bit much isn’t it? I mean Manchester United is probably one of the biggest brands in the world, you think that they could let these little guys get away with making a little extra money for something that isn’t even fully ripping off their logo. I don’t see them out there trying to shut down the thousands of knock off shirts that are sold worldwide that probably lose them a hell of a lot more money than these guys.
Really weird bantz and only serves to make the club more alien and less affable than ever before. Bad PR move if you ask me, but I’m sure the legions of die hard idiot Manchester United fans won’t care about that. They never do.
