We’re in the middle of winter over here so the thought of jetting off to warmer climates is probably something that everyone is contemplating, but if you do decide to take the plunge then you’ve gotta make sure that you’re actually heading to the right destination.

Sadly, this wasn’t the case for 62 year old Kingsley Burnett who attempted to catch a plane to Sydney, Australia from New York, but instead ended up boarding one for Sidney, Montana instead. It’s the spelling that’ll get you I guess?
Not content to wallow in his catastrophic failure on his own, Burnett decided to tell the local television station all about his failed holiday and how American Airlines employee Carol in Montana helped him rebook his trip to Sydney – and the cruise he was meant to embark on whilst he was there – for later in the year. She also found him a hotel to stay at in Sidney for the night before flying back to New York.
Hopefully she’ll win employee of the month for her service. What a hero.
I saw a mountaintop covered in white snow. At that point, I knew I was in trouble.
It’s a matter of acronyms. The S-Y-D as opposed to S-D-Y. Somebody has to fix that.
For Carol, it was not a paycheck. It was a human being she was dealing with.
Montana didn’t have kangaroos. It had Carol. And that was good enough for me.
Eh I’m not sure if that’s the amazing story that people are making it out to be because even though it seems like Carol did a great job sorting stuff out for Kingsley there, it’s still her job so its probably the least she should be doing. I guess he’s probably just stoked she didn’t treat him like a little baby for flying to completely the wrong place when he’s a grown man of 62 years old.
I think the best part of the story is that this isn’t even the first time that this has happened. I guess the other guy decided to keep quiet to try and hold onto his dignity so every time someone Googled his name they wouldn’t discover he was the moron that flew to the wrong Sydney.
Makes a lot of sense to me, but clearly Kingsley Burnett doesn’t mind about that and fair play to him. Hopefully he enjoys his trip this summer – if he flies to the right place this time.
