You really can’t have any fun on Delta Airlines these days. First we had the story about the passenger who was not allowed to bring his (massive) emotional support peacock on board a flight, and now we have this man who was removed from the plane after boarding with a T-shirt that featured an image of Donald Trump alongside the now-infamous slogan ‘Hawk Tuah Spit On That Thing’…

Yeah, cheers Wendy! Now, it’s not clear which part of the T-shirt the crew at Delta didn’t like. Was it the middle fingers, or the blowjob joke, or was it just Donald Trump? It’s hard to say. But either way, the man was informed by flight crew that someone had complained about his shirt and that he would have to change it.

The man initially complied by turning the T-shirt inside out, but then sneakily switched it back around once the plane was fully boarded – and was promptly removed from the airplane.

Reddit user SKBeachGirl share details of the incident on the Delta subreddit:

“Crazy day in Sarasota airport, I was sitting next to a young man before boarding that had on a Trump shirt with middle fingers and a red coat came over and told him some lady complained and he had to change his shirt or he could not get on the plane. He turned his shirt inside out, and we all boarded.”

“Next thing I know, right before takeoff, a Delta employee comes on the plane and escorts him off the flight, he had flipped his shirt back to the decal side. IDK but I’ve seen way worse….girl half naked boarded and left alone.”

In fairness to Delta, it does seem like it was more about the vulgarity of the T-shirt rather than who was on it. Here’s rule 8) straight from the Delta rule book:

8) When the passenger’s conduct, attire, hygiene or odor creates an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers.

After all, the passenger was allowed to stay on the flight once he turned his T-shirt inside out, but thought he was being slick by flipping it over again and so naturally the flight crew assumed if he was going to disobey them, he would do it again, and thus posed a minor flight risk. Only has himself to blame at the end of the day.
