Over the years at Sick Chirpse, we’ve written about dozens of people spending thousands of pounds to completely transform their faces (and other body parts) in hopes of achieving what they perceive to be the ideal social media look.
This week we’ve got Dale Saint Cullen, 28, who has spent £25,000 on plastic surgery and now admits he was brainwashed by social media into believing he had to look ‘perfect’. After 5 years and spending all that money, Dale went from this…
To this…
Which I think most people would consider an improvement? Even if he is still using a filter after spending £25,000 on his face. Dale told the Mirror:
On social media, I never noticed at the time, but I was looking at these people who looked perfect and I fell into this vicious cycle of chasing what was not the reality, it was completely false.
I was flying out to Poland and Turkey and showing surgeons filtered pictures on Instagram of how I wanted to look.
It took me a while to realise that’s not what they actually look like in real life.
So Dale’s a little bit slow to catch on to the blatantly obvious. No worries. What’s important now is that he’s realised how excessive and unnecessary all those surgeries were and won’t be having any more done, right? Right? Wrong… apparently Dale doesn’t regret the surgeries themselves, but rather the reason he got them. In fact he’s got more surgery lined up for June.
Its like there’s always a new trend and I just couldn’t keep up.
I spent so much time, money, and energy on chasing that perfect look, it’s crazy.
I would just say to people to make sure you do your research first and make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons.
I’m seeing a therapist to try and make sure I work on myself. The work I had done in the past, it wasn’t for me, I did it under the pressures of social media.
I’m in a much better place now and I make sure everything I do is for me.
He does worry about the next generation of social media users though:
I’m 28-years-old now and it seems like people on social media are getting younger and younger and I worry about the affect it has on them.
When you see all these reality TV stars ad influencers and they look perfect it can be really damaging to young people.
Well, hopefully those young people have a decent circle of friends and family who can talk them out of spending a small fortune on completely rearranging their faces because they don’t look as good as the phonies on social media. How about some physical exercise and a good diet instead? Way cheaper and healthier than splashing £25,000 on your nose, chin, lips, cheeks, jaw and eyebrows. That jaw is looking powerful though, will give him that. Good luck on your next surgery, Dale!
