You may remember the strange story of the Japanese man named Toco who spent £12,480 on transforming himself into a border collie a couple years back. Well, it looks like he’s finally realised that being a dog is for dogs and has called it quits after accepting that bipedal humans are not built to crawl around on all fours.

Toco told Japan’s WanQol:

“Dogs and humans have different bone structures and the way they bend their legs and arms, so it’s very difficult to make movements that look like this.”

I’m not sure why he needed to spend £12,480 and become the butt of internet jokes for a few years in order to figure this out, but he got there in the end. I mean, the whole thing was a complete and utter disaster from start to finish. Not only were people online calling him a weirdo/mentally ill/nonce and other unkind things, but he was also terrifying children in the streets, and other dogs outright rejected him from their packs and wouldn’t play with him.

There’s even footage of Toco going walkies and you can see how other dogs are completely confused and creeped out by him:

Even despite this however, Toco says that he’s not done playing dress-up, and may try his paw hand at becoming another species of animal:

“I might realistically be able to become another dog, a panda or a bear. A fox or a cat would also be nice, but they are too small for humans to try.”

Jesus, what is wrong with this guy? Even after conceding that the human collie experience was a complete failure, he’s still ready to splash the cash and see if life as a panda or a bear suits him better.

Anything but being human, I guess? Have to admire the determination, on some level. It’s worth noting he’s racked up 64k followers and million of views on YouTube as well, so at least he’s got that going for him. See you in your next incarnation, Toco!

Toco once said: 'Ever since I was a small child, I wanted to be an animal. I think it is a desire to transform. I've thought about it since I can remember.'
