I’ve mentioned before that you can get a certified Guinness World Record for almost anything these days and Joel Strasser is the latest one of these chancers who has managed to nail one, this time by putting Christmas baubles in his beard. What an inspiration.

The story gets even stupider when you realise that Joel isn’t even competing with anyone for the record – he literally works on his technique or whatever you want to call it all year and then breaks his own previous record from the last year. Again, really something to inspire everyone next year.

This year Joel managed to fit 710 baubles on his beard, beating his previous record of 686 from last year and his original record of 302 back in 2019. How far he’s come.

Here’s what he had to say about his achievement:

I stuck them in a lot more haphazardly at first and that’s why those first bauble record numbers were so low.

I’ve been thinking about (adding) candy canes, but I haven’t tried it yet…

I wonder if I can fit more candy canes in that are still in the plastic or cut out of wrappers and pre-licked.

It’s painful to have all those hairs pulling at once. All those baubles add up to about 5lbs.

Find a category that interests you, decide you can do it, and practice until you do.

It takes a lot of work for something as silly as this, but the glory is worth it.

The glory sure is worth it. Imagine how sweet it would be if you could do something like that next year. Maybe fit 700 elastic bands up your butt? 25 paper clips up your nose? 15 tampons over your head.T
