Groundbreaking news today as Machine Gun Kelly has revealed that he is changing his name. To what, you ask? Nerf gun knobhead? Water pistol Pete? The guy who got eviscerated by Eminem?
Nope, Machine Gun Kelly now only wants to be known as… *drumroll*
… ‘Machine’. As in, just ‘Machine’. Dropped the ‘Gun’ and the ‘Kelly’ but kept the ‘Machine’. He hasn’t just done it on a whim either, explaining that he received some feedback from fans where they convinced him that his original moniker glorified firearms.
MGK Machine, real name Colson Baker, says he saw a sign at a recent gig that read ‘Change your name’, and when he asked the audience what they thought about it, a massive ‘change your name’ chant started. Then a lightbulb popped up over his head and he realised he couldn’t drop the ‘Machine Gun’ part of his name because then he’d just be known as ‘Kelly’, which would be pretty lame (no offence to any Kelly’s out there).
So he opted for ‘Machine’ instead, and at a GQ event last night was reportedly telling the press to refer to him as such.
Well anyway, good luck to him. At least it provides him with an opportunity to be reintroduced to Martin Brundle next year, after that awkward interaction they had the other week.
