Domestic abuse charities have called on Love Island chiefs to ‘apply the same welfare standards to men’ after the girls were accused of ‘gaslighting and manipulation’, with 300+ complaints being filed to Ofcom in the last week.
The show received 266 complaints for its episode on February 23rd and a further 71 complaints for the episode on February 22nd, which were based around Tanya’s behaviour towards Shaq and Olivia’s behaviour towards Kai.
After Movie Night, in which the contestants got to witness themselves slagging each other off and cheating on each other, Shaq broke down in tears as he watched Tanya kiss Martin in Casa Amor. Instead of being sympathetic to Shaq, Tanya played it off like it was no big deal. Oh, the humanity!
Elsewhere, Olivia was fuming with Kai because he had coupled up with another girl… even though she had already coupled up with another boy. She then gaslit the shxt out of him by trying to make him see that he was the only one at fault, but when he just shrugged and said he wanted to squash it, she kept following him around and calling him fake. Absolute Hitler-like behaviour!
This year’s female line-up has been branded the most ‘manipulative and toxic’ in the history of the show, with Aussie girl Jessie also guilty of ‘bullying’ the floppy-haired KC, who is getting grief for not fancying a girl who fancies him.
I’ll be honest – I don’t really see what the fuss is about? It’s not like the women haven’t been treated like shxt on the previous 8 seasons of Love Island, and it doesn’t sound as though the boys are experiencing anything particularly brutal, so what’s the big deal? Oh the girls think the boys are ‘fake’? Everyone’s being mean to each other? Of course the producers are going to fill this show up with cruel, narcissistic cxnts – it’s the only way to make it entertaining!
Well anyway, given that they’re still making this show after all the suicides I’m not sure a few hundred more complaints are going to make a difference. Thoughts & prayers with the boys who are just going to have to stick it out until the final in a few weeks.
