5) Don’t Be Too Generous
The problem with lottery winners and rich people in general is that they hoard their resources. They don’t share. That’s why there’s a class divide and there always will be, humans are inherently greedy. Don’t get me wrong, I hate sharing, if I won a bazillion quid you wouldn’t see me for dust. Humans, despite our big brains, are still greedy little apes. But not everyone is greedy to a fault…
Janite Lee, a South Korean living in America, won a smashing $18 million in 1993. Initially Janite went a bit nuts and spent out on the things you might expect, like a massive house for her and her family for instance. Fair enough.
After the initial splurge Janite decided to turn philanthropist and began donating like crazy to charitable causes and institutions. Within a year she was bankrupt. By 2001 she had less than $700 to her name and $2.5 million in debts.
So it’s important to be nice to each other, but not that nice.
