The phone snatching situation in London has been an absolute joke for some years now, so it’s good to see that the city’s most notorious offender has finally been jailed for 2 years (which means he could be back out on the street snatching phones again in 12 months, but hey ho).

The best part about is though is the footage that was shared of police ramming Sonny Stringer, 28, off his e-bike, which resulted in him breaking his knee:

On this occasion alone, police retrieved 24 phones (!) from Sonny that he had stolen in just 60 minutes around the city of London, with a collective worth of around £20,000. Not bad for an hour’s ‘work’.

Stringer pleaded guilty to nine counts of theft – with one of those accounting for 15 stolen phones – along with charges of dangerous driving and driving without insurance (naturally). His accomplice managed to run off and has not yet been caught.

Big up the police officers for executing the whole thing perfectly – from ramming Stringer off his bike to then trapping him with nowhere to go. He did do pretty well to run around a bit with a broken knee, will give him that. Just a shame his accomplice got away, but hopefully this spurs on the police to get him and the remaining 2839487 phone thieves in London off the streets, before having to deal with them again once they’ve served half their sentence and are back on the roads, having learnt nothing in the process.
