72 Year Old Chinese Grandfather Models His Teenage Granddaughter’s Clothes

So yeah, some 72 year old Chinese guy who’s also a grandfather called Liu Xianping thought that it would be really funny if he dressed up in his teenage granddaughter’s clothes and took some pictures of himself. I don’t really think that would be that funny if I was to do it to my granddaughter, I would just think it was kind of weird and a bit freaky and maybe slightly Jimmy Savile -esque, but apparently over in China it’s an accepted thing and it’s perfectly fine to do stuff like this and people actually think it’s fvcking hilarious. Liu Xianping dressed up in some outfits from his granddaughter’s fashion store Yuekou and Ms Lv – which I’m guessing is the name of his daughter and/or her brand over there or worldwide or whatever, i’m not really into teenage girls’ clothing labels – decided it would be super funny to upload some of the pictures onto the internet. In particular they stuck the photos on China’s largest retail site which is called TMALL, which is just such a Chinese name for it right?

BOOM! It’s like the day after, the pictures have gone viral all over the Chinese internet and sales of Ms Lv’s stuff have gone through the roof. No joke. The images have since gone global and Ms Lv’s sales have multiplied exponentially apparently. I find it hard to believe that sales can multiply exponentially but still the fact that they’re even using that word illustrates how successful the campaign has been. Who would have thought that a picture of a gross old man in women’s clothing would actually lead to an increase in sales, but here we are, talking about it right now. Crazy huh? Apparently he just picked up a couple of outfits and was trying to give the girls at the store advice over what to mix and match and they just started shooting him. And so a legend was born.

Liu Xianping himself is just happy to help his daughter out and doesn’t understand why people might think it’s weird for him to be modelling his teenage granddaughter’s clothes. I guess they don’t have problems over there like the ones we have over here. Here’s what he had to say: ‘Why unacceptable for someone like me to wear women’s clothes? Modelling for the store is helping my granddaughter and I have nothing to lose,’ he said. We were very happy on the day of the shooting. I’m very old and all that I care about is to be happy.’ He sounds like a fun loving guy and a great granddad, although he might be a bit too wacky for me. On the flipside of his comments, Liu is allegedly the envy of women all over China due to his skinny frame and skinny legs. These also show off the advantages of Ms Lv’s range which has led to the massive increase in sales. Those last two sentences felt a bit weird for me to type.
