Ages ago I got really excited about Limp Bizkit finally releasing a new record entitled Gold Cobra this summer – well now they’ve released the first new song from the album (unless you count Why Try which came out almost a year ago) Shotgun.
It’s pretty cool. I mean, if you think Limp Bizkit is still cool you’ll probably enjoy it as it’s pretty much everything you would expect from a new Limp Bizkit song. As per usual, Fred Durst’s lyrics are something else as the song kind of revolves around the idea that you’re sitting alone in a house with a sawn off shotgun and have nothing to do except kill people/blow your brains out. It also features some cool lines like ‘let me tell you people what you need to know, you gotta plant a lot of seeds before your weed will grow’ and ‘here’s a shout out to the ladies with the hot tits, courtesy of that Limp Bizkit rock shit.’
Unusually for Limp Bizkit, it features a guitar solo. I guess you might call that progression, right? But essentially it still just sounds like Limp Bizkit. The end of the song also features this really cool bit where he fires a shotgun in time with the guitars for about 20 seconds. Check it out below:
