In a since-deleted Tweet posted earlier this week, Old Town Road rapper Lil Nas X shared a photo of a woman that kind of looks like him and captioned it “the surgery was a success”, joking that he had transitioned.
A pretty harmless joke, right?
Of course, the post was met with furious rage from transgender activists who claimed Lil Nas X was mocking then. At first, he stood up for himself, as he knew he hadn’t said anything transphobic or malicious at all:
But then, he caved and apologised like so many celebrities with nothing to apologise for always do:
apologies to the trans community i def handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not cool. much love to you guys. sorry

Funnily enough, Lil Nas X immediately returned to his sassy self when one complainer wouldn’t accept his apology:
girl eat my ass https://t.co/EXs1p9vkaw

So yeah, I really don’t think he’s remorseful at all but just took the easy route by apologising in order to appease the recreationally offended Twitter mob. All the guy did was share a photo of a female lookalike and caption it with a harmless joke about how he transitioned. How anyone can take offence to that, especially when it’s coming from a gay rapper who is one of the most pro-LGBTQ artists out there, is beyond me. People are just addicted to getting mad, it seems.
Lil Nas X is no stranger to controversy, of course. A couple years ago he sparked outrage by shagging Satan himself in a music video. He didn’t apologise for that one, obviously.
