Ah yes, gotta keep karma on your side with some good old fashioned charity work in between getting fucked up in rented nightclubs and private planes/yachts. Question is who is the more benevolent of our two competitors?
Leo is a big time environmentalist. During the filming of Blood Diamond, he worked with orphaned children in Mozambique. In 2010, he donated $1 million to relief efforts in Haiti after the earthquake. He’s also on record for donating $1 million to the Wildlife Conservation Society at Russia’s tiger summit, after which Vladimir Putin called him “a real man”. Leo is also an activist for gay rights and earlier this year donated $61,000 to GLAAD, an organization that promotes the image of LGBT people in the media.
Bilzerian is doing his bit, albeit not on as large a scale. In 2013 he set up the Robin Hood project which aims to give to the needy. He’s mentioned that he’s helping out a woman who “lost all her limbs; (I’m) trying to make her house more handcapped-accessible.” He has a page where you can reach out to him about getting involved in other charities. Other than that, not much info. Gotta give this one to Leo.
