5. THAILAND – STEPPING ON THE LOCAL CURRENCY CAN GET YOU ARRESTED
That guy up there is the King of Thailand and in Thailand respecting The King and the Thai Royal Family is one of the foundations of their society. As such, if you tread on a coin when it’s rolling away to stop it – or for any other reason, but that’s the only one I can really think of when you would do that – then you’ll be seen as disrespecting The King and sentenced to some hardcore time in a Thai Prison.
Offenders ‘usually’ get pardoned but not ‘usually’ before they’ve served at least a month in Thai Prison. I saw Brokedown Palace once and man, you do not want to be serving any time in those prisons if they’re still anything like that. Dirty, squalid and violent.
Maybe just carry around notes all the time when you’re in Thailand to avoid even accidentally treading on a coin by accident.
