3. NIGERIA – YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE MINERAL WATER INTO THE COUNTRY

If you were worried about the drinking water in Nigeria you had better not think about smuggling a bottle of Volvic onto the plane with you because it could lead to you spending a night in a Nigerian jail cell. I’m sure that’s something that nobody reading this wants to experience – I mean can you imagine a Nigerian version of OZ?

I’m not entirely sure why this one is illegal but I’m guessing it probably has something to do with trying to increase domestic industry and business within the country because there are a bunch of other products you’re not allowed to import like eggs, beer, cereals and fruit. It seems unlikely you would just rock up on a plane with any of them though, whereas it’s quite possible you might step off the plane sipping a Perrier whilst waiting for your luggage. And that’s when you get a gun shoved in your face and taken down.
