A 20-year-old law student is facing jail and has potentially f*cked up his career in law before it even starts after racially abusing Arsenal star Bukayo Saka on social media.

Suhel Ali, who funnily enough is Nigerian himself, just like Saka, uploaded an audio message on X directed at the winger, calling him a “f***ing black piece of sh*t”.

Ali referred to Saka as ‘the s***test winger I’ve ever seen at my club.’ He used the N-word in reference to the England international and said: ‘You’re a monkey – you’re a f***ing monkey.’

Ali’s rant came after Arsenal’s defeat away to Nottingham Forest on May 20, 2023, which I don’t believe was Saka’s fault particularly, but it did spell the end of Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes at the time.

Ali, from Wembley, is a student at City University in London. He admitted sending an offensive message after his mum helped police track down his IP address and gave officers his e-mail. Cheers mum!

District Judge Briony Clarke bailed Ali until October 8 and said: ‘I’m not going to sentence you today — but I’m not ruling anything out.’

Ali’s lawyer Robert Moxon made a feeble attempt at explaning Ali’s outburst, reminding the judge that Ali was of Nigerian heritage himself.

He said: ‘He used the N-word in that tweet but he’s using that not in a racial context but in an offensive context.’

The judge then asked about Ali’s use of the word ‘monkey’, to which Moxon replied that Aliused the word to ‘suggest that Bukayo Saka is dumb’.

He added: ‘He was just firing off some really stupid, offensive remarks about how a footballer played.’

And so, it turns out that even those of Nigerian heritage don’t have an N-word pass when it comes to abusing footballers on social media, which is fair enough really. The crazy thing is that Bukayo Saka was on absolute fire for Arsenal last season and has started this bet season well too, and so even Suhel Ali has probably been appreciating his performances of late.

I think jailing the lad might probably be a bit much, but we’ve seen people thrown behind bars for less, so it wouldn’t be the most shocking thing in the world.

Either way, if you’re a POC looking to racially abuse your fellow POC on social media, you should probably think twice in 2024.
