Well, he finally did it. Laurence Fox has officially apologised to Ava Evans for his comments on GB News via a 15-minute video on Twitter. I don’t think anyone has the time to listen to Laurence Fox ramble on about this topic for 15 minutes, so I’ll just share the video below and then quote the key bits from the apology:
War and Peace (and love)@AvaSantina @GBNEWS pic.twitter.com/vTfSFSuGjq
— Laurence Fox (@LozzaFox) September 28, 2023
“If I was going to be sensible and I could replay it, I would say: ‘Any self-respecting man in 2023 would probably be well advised to avoid a woman who possessed that world view because she would probably cause him nothing but harm’.
But what I did say was, you know, ‘I wouldn’t s**g that’, and all that sort of stuff, which is not right. It’s demeaning to her, to Ava, so I’m sorry for demeaning you in that way. However angry I am with you still for doing that, and it demeans me because it’s not representative of who I am.”
He also said he expected to be sacked by GB News on Friday over the incident, adding:
“I know I’m going to get sacked tomorrow. I’m saying this stuff to clear my own conscience.”
I’m not sure how true that is or whether he’s just apologising because he thinks there’s a teeny, tiny chance GB News will U-turn on the situation, but I guess he had to say sorry sooner or later if he ever wants to work on TV again. When even GB News won’t have you, you’re pretty much the most cancelled person on the planet.
Up until now, Fox was adamant he would never apologise…
Claimed people were stopping him in the street in floods of tears…
And was still mocking Ava Evans on Twitter…
So I guess he slept on it last night/had a word with his agent and realised that his career is now well and truly in the mud and so maybe an apology wouldn’t hurt in the long run. I guess we’ll have to see.
For the time Laurence Fox’s son told him that he ‘needed his consent’ to kiss him goodnight, click HERE. No wonder he’s so vexed?
